In 1870s Paris, headstrong Berthe Morisot pursues legitimacy through the rigid Salon system, but when her alliance with celebrated Édouard Manet blurs the line between collaboration and erasure, competition and ego, camaraderie and entanglement, she must decide whether to beat the Salon system or to abandon it.
